LightSmyth introduce breakthrough nanophotonic products
Created April 12, 2016
Diffractive optics for telecom, datacom and other applications is now offered by LightSmyth, a Finisar company. The products utilise principles of computer generated holography to create arbitrary beamshaping and wavefront transformation to produce lenses, phase plates, beamsplitters, CGH and focusing diffraction gratings. Several optical functions may be combined on a single optical surface with no limitation on minimum component size. The advantages are low cost, wafer scale mass production capability, high performance, high power damage threshold and environmental stability. The diffractive structures are etched directly into fused silica or other materials. No organic materials are used.
