TowerJazz Announces Foundry SiPho Process for Optical Communications

TowerJazz announces its Silicon Photonics (SiPho) process for the manufacture of optical transceiver electronics, built to enable a wide range of optical fiber interconnect Tx and Rx front-end optical ICs. The SiPho process addresses the high performance requirements of optical networking and data center interconnects applications such as reduction in power consumption, high bandwidth and high data transfer capabilities.
TowerJazz is offering an "open" platform to its SiPho customers unlike other "closed" processes that may be restricted to low-volume prototyping. TowerJazz is collaborating with leading EDA vendors to develop PDKs for this platform, bringing unparalleled capabilities to this growing marketplace.
